I remember…
I remember the world we once lived in.
A world where a reference to someone’s race was considered identification and not racism.
A world where a man telling a woman she looked nice today was called flirting and not sexual harassment.
A world where one could talk to random people on the street, because not everyone was having their headphones on.
A world where driving was also about having fun, not just about transporation.
A world where even war involved mutual respect and common understanding.
A world where religion brought people together, not torn them apart.
A world where words of love where whispered not IM’d.
A world where people had time to live their life, every second of every day and they didn’t have to rush through it.
A world where people were actually free, free to walk their own personal way through life, free to make their own choices and were not bound by invisible strings of an unknown puppet master which they can’t see, they can’t touch, they can’t hear, but they can feel him pushing them on ways they never wanted to walk on.
I wonder if I ever really lived through any of this or is it just a very very realistic dream?
And I wish…I wish we would’ve kept at least some of these together with the good changes that we brought in the recent times. Because I feel that by not doing so, we will just keep going back and forth between two worlds, each with their advantages and disadvantages, never satisfied, never happy with what we have. We’re not blinded by science… we’re blinded by our own desire for the light side and our ignorance of the dark side. We’re blinded by our greed and our fears.
Oh simple thing… where have you gone?
